How to Build a Town
Butner 2040 Vision and Implementation

This section is being built to help our partners in the community learn about the elements needed to build a Town that meets the expectations and aspirations we've heard you tell us you want.   To accomplish this, you need to know more about how transportation, design of places (and spaces) and architecture,  our natural environment, and private sector development process and town planning/zoning and rules and regulations interact and what roles they play to achieve the goals and objectives you seek for Butner.

Let's start with the Goals and Objectives of the Butner 2040 vision by viewing these here.

Next, let's look at the Vision itself, commonly referred to the "Future Land Use Map", the Butner 2040 map is less about specific land uses and more about how you've told us you envision the future character and design of Butner.  The Map may be viewed here and includes descriptions of the "character areas" shown on the map.  Some examples of these areas may be found on this page.
Transportation
Nothing develops without a way to get to it.  In human history, this was first by foot/foot paths, then boats and ships to harbors, horse and carriages along cart paths, trains and streetcars to stations and cars and paved roads, freeways and interchanges.
